The mid-winter seminar was held in November in Vancouver, Canada at the same time as the annual Queen's Ball. During the festivities at the Queens Ball, Canadian Examiner William Holmes lost his RCMP Dress Spurs. Les was appalled to think anyone would stoop so low as to steal from a Pony Soldier. Les commented in the newsletter that a search for his spurs centered around the Seattle area. It was rumored that a Queens Subpoena was going to be issued and that failure to respond would cause a Canadian warrant to be issued for the culprit. Years later, Dewey Gillespie told NPEA Historian John Clark that he seemed to recall that incident and in fact not only knew who the culprit was but reported that he knew where the hot spurs were at the time! At the spur of the moment Dewey then had a senior moment and forgot the culprits name. However, John Clark was left with the impression that the spurs may be located in a warmer climate these days.
